Closet system installation across Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia
The builder wire shelf pulling out of the drywall is the closet call we get most. We take it down, patch the holes and hang a system that is anchored to the studs and the top plate, so a full rod of winter coats stays where it was put.
Or call or text (240) 802-7282. Hours 8 to 6, Monday through Saturday.
How the job goes
We install the kits from the box stores, the laminate systems you order online and simple built in wood shelving we cut on site. A reach in bedroom closet is a morning. A walk in with drawers and a shoe wall is a full day, and we lay the plan out on the wall with you before the first hole goes in.
Jobs we take
- Reach in closet with a double hang and a shelf
- Walk in closet with drawers, shoe shelves and a hamper
- Pantry shelving and a broom closet
- Laundry room shelving over the machines
- Garage wall shelving and overhead racks
- Builder wire shelving removed and the wall patched
Who installs a closet system in Maryland
A closet system fastened to the house is home improvement under section 8-101(g), so it is done for pay by an MHIC licensed contractor. No electrician or plumber comes into it. Every closet on our crew is handyman work from the first measurement to the last shelf pin.
The one thing that brings the electrician is a closet light. A new fixture or a motion switch inside the closet is electrical services under section 6-101(k), and the estimate names it as a separate line when you want one.
In Maryland, any work on wiring, a fixture or an electrical connection is electrical services under section 6-101(k) and belongs to a licensed master electrician or someone working under one. An MHIC license alone does not cover it.
The Maryland rule in full, with the statute sections, is on the Old Line Home Repair license page.
What it costs
A closet install is priced by the closet, with the system itself either supplied by you or added at cost, and the price covers the old shelving out, the wall patched and the new system hung and leveled. We have not billed one on the public list yet, so the finished install and fixture jobs we have billed are below for scale. The estimate carries one number per closet.
What moves the price is on the closet systems cost page.
Every job is done by a contractor licensed with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC). The license number is on your estimate.
